Sparrow working wonders

December 29, 2006

Dear Dr. Gandhi,

I wanted you to know how much the staff at the MAC appreciates you. They informed me how you assisted when a MAC member became distressed and an AED had to be utilized to revive the member. Thanks so much for the confidence you instilled in the staff and for your assistance.

Dr. Gandhi,

Dr. Tony Briningstool called me to let me know of your outstanding life saving call to an E.D. patient recently. Thank you for all you do for Sparrow and our patients. We are fortunate to have you in Lansing and at Sparrow Hospital.

Best Wishes,
Joe Damore

2 December 2003

Dear Mr. Damore:

It’s far too seldom that one has the opportunity to send kudos for a job well done. In many cases, when a job is well done, those who recognize it don’t take the time to mention it to anyone. In other cases, a job was—well-—not well done.

However, in October, I had the pleasure of spending a week at your establishment as a result of having cardiac bypass surgery by Dr. Gandhi. I spent three or four days in ICU and was introduced to the comforting care of a nurse named Penny (never did find out her last name). She deserves a plaque on the wall or a gold watch on her wrist for the job she is doing at Sparrow. Despite long shifts, demanding patients (and their family members), and a super busy schedule she maintained an admirable upbeat composure, was always friendly and helpful, and was on the spot whenever I needed her. She even showed me photographs of her pet dogs in Halloween costumes. She CARED! What a delightful person.

In addition, another person in ICU (named Sam——I think for Samantha) showed equal caring and gave me comfort by way of her perky humor and energetic manner.

These two deserve a real pat on the back (and perhaps a pad in the paycheck) for their professional——yet personal—work ethic and performance. They are indeed Working Wonders.

Thank you for your time, and have a good day.

Sincerely,

Donald P.
Happy and healthy by way of Sparrow

December 31, 2003

Dear Mr. P:

Thank you for your recent letter concerning the excellent care that you received at the Sparrow Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in October.

We are very fortunate at Sparrow to have an excellent team of physicians, nurses and other caregivers who are committed to our mission of providing quality, compassionate, cost-effective health care to each and every patient. Please be assured that I will forward a copy of your letter to the appropriate individuals to ensure that they know your appreciation of the outstanding care you received. I especially appreciate the time you took to identify specific individuals and acknowledge their exceptional care.

Also, unless you object, I would like to post a copy of your letter on the bulletin board near the hospital’s cafeteria so that others have an opportunity to read your kind comments.

Again, thank you for your letter and taking the time to write of your experience to me. Best wishes to you for a happy and healthy New Year.

Sincerely,
Joseph F. Damore
